Different occasions, first playing football, second playing basketball. Both times I was not in contact with anyone which is the nature of the ACL injury.

I did the full ACL replacement with the mid-third patella procedure for my fully torn left. The rehab started 3 weeks after surgery and took 14 weeks to complete. I was in my late 20s at the time. I had full range of motion by about 8 weeks, but I had zero percent trust in any significant athletic movement. The PT said to avoid basketball and racket sports for at least 6 months after he released me. That said, I tore it in December and was back playing ball the following November, with a DonJoy brace strapped on.

I don't know if the modern surgical methods are better than when I did that (about 25 years ago) but I would strongly recommend taking the long view of things. It would totally suck to miss her senior season but it would suck more to injure herself worse by trying to come back too soon. The best she can do is get the surgery done quickly and start rehabbing as soon as they'll let her and to put 100% effort into everything they give her to do. Maybe she can get there in time for the second half of the season.
