My thoughts
1. Not really - I think we saw under Coach Sung that it is possible for VT to be competitive in Lax within the ACC. Not easy but possible.
2. Hard to say on this. We had some struggles and a couple of missteps, but I do think the competition within the ACC was tougher than Sung expected. ACC Lax is like SEC football - each game is a war.
3. I would like to know more about this. There were signs we weren't recruiting at a high enough level, but why wasn't clear.
4. Possibly. There is no history with the program to promote it, so we have to find kids that want to be part of the ground floor in building a perennial contender. We had some of those, but we didn't secure enough over the past 2 years. There may be limitations that can't be overcome, but I am skeptical when this is thrown out there as a "reason"
5. I know the following has been said regarding football and other sports, but I think there is some truth to it: when you aren't a historical blue-blood, it is vitally important to have recruits on campus. I think COVID hurt us worse than most within the ACC. VT has to be sold - it doesn't just sell itself.
