Wilson has made a career of dirty shots to skill guys on the other team, he isn't a face you up drop the gloves guy. Wilson hits guys when they aren't looking or when they are face down on the ice, so the response should be the same kind of cheap-shots...not facing up and dropping gloves.

The way to respond to Wilson is to engage in the exact same tactics targeting the Caps skill players, not wasting penalty minutes hitting the goon. Rather than take 2 minutes instigating versus Wilson, the Rangers should have sent someone on a Wilson-style mission to return the favor to one of the Caps skill players or line up a Caps D-man with a hit like Wilson laid on Carlo, and many others, crushing them against the boards.

The Ranger's approach last night was just stupid and ineffective, they gave Wilson and his enablers on the Capitals no disincentive to continue his signature dirty play.
