In my opinion the NHL has no reason to be surprised by what happened last night. They should have suspended Wilson for the game since it was game after his incident. That might not have eliminated the fighting but maybe it would have reduced last nights festivities. Now you will have a situation of the two teams meet in the playoffs where the rangers take more action if they are losing in an elimination game. That’s a risk for the caps.

If I am Wilson’s teammate I would be frustrated and maybe tell the guy to keep it clean. Clearly he’s not a clean player. And repeatedly taking cheap shots is a good way to keep your teammates involved in fights.
