The bigger challenge for Mike Young is that Chester Frazier might carry as much of the VT recruiting load as any single assistant I've ever seen at the HM level. There are a ton of people whose only real connection to this VT staff is Chester Frazier and with him leaving the big responsibility is to find someone who can at least come close to carrying that weight.

I'd argue that Chester Frazier has had as much or more to do with VT's success under Mike Young as Young himself. Where these hires typically go bad is the head coach hires someone with limited ability but a high level of personal comfort (former assistant) or goes out and hires a guy who looks good on paper without doing the work of finding out how the actual people you need to know in recruiting view him.
