When you lose assistants to better jobs, it is because they have performed ahead of expectations, and the marker for that achievement generally is wins.

The more you win, the more popular your assistants are. I believe Bud Foster would attest to that. He had many, many chances to leave that I'm not sure he has if VT is finishing 6-6 instead of 10-2.
