Hang in there......mentioned at the turn don't pay attention to records of
of the opponents. It is a long grind playing 36 game league schedule. Long grind. Never been done before and especially hard for a program climbing into a higher level. We have hit a little wall and will be nice to have a break from league play to freshen up. The starting catcher is close to being back, and think there is a strong chance Gerard may go some this weekend.
The elite left handed pitching has slowed us down some. The lefty out of the pen from State last weekend did a nice job controlling us, and needless to say, the UVA lefties pretty much shut us down all weekend. And UVA was clean and played high level defense.....they are good and we are closing a large gap pretty quickly. But they are a program that will not beat themselves late in the season. It is nice to keep in mind, when we lose, it is not always because we aren't doing something right, or we blew it, or are not good, or our coaches don't get it, etc. etc. We aren't perfect, but we are piecing together a nice run in a year where we weren't thought to be quite there. Please note, when we lose, sometimes the other dudes are pretty good and can do things pretty well..... We could use a breather at this point......
We have 10 Quad 1 wins. In fact we are 10-11 in those games. That is 21 out of 40 games as quad 1. We will have four of those left (in all likelihood). There are only NINE programs in the top 60 RPI that have more quad 1 wins than the Hokies. Only Notre Dame, Pitt, and FSU have more in the league than us....Let's see what happens down the stretch and hopefully with our roster pretty much in tact.
