I don't believe that model will fly because the P5s will be in violation


of antitrust laws. The reason the G5s don't sue now for violation of antitrust laws is because there are no automatic bids to the Playoffs. Technically all 10 FBS conferences have an equal opportunity to earn at least 1 of the at-large bids in a given season.

Once automatic bids are given to all the P5s and only 1 is given to the G5s, then you have a "conspiracy in restraint of trade" because the G5s are not given equal access to the Playoffs. Hence why the NCAA DI Football Playoffs (aka NCAA DI-FCS Playoffs) gives an automatic bid to every conference that wants one and one of the reasons it has expanded to a 20 or 24-team tournament.
