I think you're missing my point. The ACC doesn't need any help with BB...
...or any non-revenue sport to raise its profile. It's already one of the best in the country in that respect. Football is where the ACC has struggled in recent years, with Miami, F$U and even VT having less than stellar seasons. Having ND play 5 games every year is great! It brings additional eyes to ACC football.
If you take away those 5 games, ND's other sports just aren't special. ND just doesn't bring anything to the table to raise the ACC's profile anywhere other than football. They are a good member, but nothing special. Now if the ACC wanted to introduce ice hockey, then ND would bring something to the table the ACC doesn't currently have.
Let's face it, ND is just another ACC school like Wake Forest, NCSU, UVA, etc. in all other sports. If ND decides they want to cut all football ties with the ACC, then I'll be all for kicking their butts to the curb. Football is THE ONLY REASON ND is in the ACC there.
I like the 5 game deal we have now, and hope ND decides to become a full member, but I'm not holding my breath. I know ND prefers their independence.
Bottom line: do I like having ND in the conference? Yes. Do I like having ND play at least 5 games every year? Yes. If ND decides they no longer want to play 5 games every year, should they be completely excommunicated from the ACC? Absolutely!
