Depending on what you drive, it's not 4x for the model 3. It's ~1.25x

relative to "regular" sedans, 1x compared to luxury sedans, and .75x compared to SUVs. Now, if you only buy used cars for $10k, then yes, it's 4x for a brand new car.

And while the repair costs of the tech is going to be high (and for the Model 3) I'm not sure there's a valid TCO for a 10-year operating cost), other new sedans have similar tech now so that's going to be nearly a wash (Tesla sensors will cost more than Ford or VW, for sure). But you also never have a radiator rust out, oil changes, spark plug changes, etc... and electricity is much much cheaper than gas.
