In HS I used to take 2nd shift watch at a furniture factory July 4 week


The factory was closed for the week. (My dad was an exec there & I worked in the plant during the summers.) Normally the watchman had to keep the boiler going, but it was shut down, and the regular 2nd shift guy liked having the week off. I got time x 1.5 for the week and double time x 1.5 for July 4, and all I had to do was walk around the factory once per hour and punch a key into the watch stations. Basically got paid to read books & listen to the radio for a week.
