Might be coach speak but I’ve heard several say

They don’t mind being on the road because there are not as many distractions on the road. They can almost bunker themselves in the hotel and be together as a team. At home everyone is in their own apartments, etc. Spending time with family (not that’s not done on the road) but easier controlled on the road.

The only time the air might come into play would be if someone got shipped out to Arizona. Ball seems to fly in the desert. Bad storms are potential at most places in May other than maybe PAC 12 schools. Hostile crowds usually can play a factor but in this COVID year, I don’t think it will play as much as it usually can. The games I’ve worked or watched on TV, just a different vibe than past years.
