My observation on D Davis

I think he really saw himself and some buddies as coming to VT and winning big. He rode that idea and tried to sell it but simply put, the profile of VT just isn't as big even in VA as some on here would like to believe and the VT profile in Texas is much smaller than that. The buddies he wanted either gave a "yes" that changed to a "no" or said "no, not big enough for me" and D Davis suddenly saw himself essentially on an island with none of the parts around him that he needed.

That viewpoint then carried the day and he (nor most other above average QBs) wasn't going to try to be the lone wolf that put a lower talent players on his back and carried them.

That is, of course just one person's opinion based on the idea that the better players are sold out to play with better players around them.
