I think what GCHokie34 said when Cone left is relevant.
We think of these kids like ourselves when we went to school. We don't like to think that Cardale Jones was right when he said he did not go to OSU to play school. Keve is a little atypical but almost all D-1 hoops or football players do primarily go to college to play their sport and they go to school to a greater or lesser extent of interest/enthusiasm. They are focused on their sport because there are professional options and they have worked on their game with that somewhat in their minds for over a decade. Swimmers and softball players are different. They like to play their sport and/or use playing to pay for a portion of college. They know a pro career does not exist. Keve came late to this view. Started basketball late, went to Wofford did ok and saw a chance to move up to the ACC with CMY. He then did really well so he is thinking like all the other D-1 players and that is about making money off basketball not Human Development. If someone were to leave the CS department prior to getting their degree to make $300-$500k no one would bat an eye.
