The extra year would allow him to work on a Masters, which would help him once he retires from the game. Is that plus the potential to win the ACC worth coming back? I dunno. That's a personal decision.
Plus, he may be able to make some money next year through new NIL rules within the NCAA so he may not be flushing as much cash down the toilet by coming back.
It's a tough decision for him but selfishly, I want him back for one more year. :-)
