That is a tough question to answer because it may require the ACC


to make some real sacrifice (hard and tough decisions) which I am not sure the ACC has the guts to make them. However, to answer your question, then I would say the ACC needs to take the following steps.

1. Get rid of a few (maybe all) the private schools with a smaller fan base.

2. Historically good/great programs (i.e. FSU, Miami, VT) need to get good/great again.

3. Add WVU to the conference.

4. Realign the divisions to eliminate the protected cross-division game (if conference has 12 members) or ensure both divisions have an equal representation of state or region (if keeping the protected cross-division game and conference has 14 members)

Example of a 12 member conference
Atlantic: Syracuse, Pitt, WVU, L'ville, UVA, and VT
Coastal: UNC, NC State, Clemson, GT, FSU, and Miami

Note: Each division would be divided into 2 groups of 3 for the 3 cross-division games that would rotate every 2 years.
A1: Syracuse, WVU, VT
A2: Pitt, L'ville, UVA
C1: UNC, Clemson, FSU
C2: NC State, GT, Miami

Example of 14 member conference (w/ protected cross-division pairings)
Atlantic-Coastal
Pitt - Syracuse
WVU - L'ville
VT - UVA
NC State - UNC
Wake - Duke
Clemson - GT
FSU - Miami

Note: 10 conference games with the remaining 6 cross-divisional teams divided up into 2 groups of 3 rotating every 2 years for the 3 rotating cross-division games.

5. Force Notre Dame to join as a full member or kick them out of the conference. It is bad for the ACC's image to be the only power conference with a partial member that directly impacts the 2 revenue sports.

6. Get a deal done with Comcast ASAP.

7. For the next GOR, don't agree to such a long term.
