Noah Gurley's transfer info: "I want the college to have good dining,"

Furman transfer Noah Gurley announced he would be leaving the program on Sunday and officially entered the transfer portal early and has since found himself receiving a handful of calls from some high major head coaches.

"I did my four years at Furman and I am extremely grateful for the career I had here," Gurley told 247Sports. "It is kind of shocking, I didn't know that I would have this opportunity but this was an opportunity I had to pursue for the betterment of me and my future career, getting out there on a bigger stage and building more connections. I'm hopeful to play pro basketball one day."
The 6-foot-8, 210-pound power forward is a talented player and prospect possessing terrific physical tools and an impressive game both inside the paint and outside and several high major head coaches have taken notice.

"Today I just got off the phone with coach Shaka Smart from Marquette," he said of who has been reaching out. "I talked to coach [Mike] Young at Virginia Tech, my dad talked to coach [Eric] Musselman from Arkansas, I just got off a Zoom with coach [Travis] Steele from Xavier, I talked to coach [Tom] Crean from Georgia, I talked to coach [Lyle] Wolfe from Texas A&M, I'm talking with Marshall and Auburn was one of the first schools to hit me up."

Gurley further discussed his conversations with Shaka Smart, Eric Musselman, Travis Steele and Tom Crean.

Arkansas: "I didn't get a chance to have a long conversation with coach Musselman because it didn't work out and he has a game later but he talked to my dad but I don't know the details of all they talked about."

Georgia: "Coach Crean, his selling point was being a pro. He's made a lot of pros in his time as a coach and that's something that nobody can question and then I'm from Georgia so that obviously plays a role in it."

Marquette: "With coach Smart he told me how it would be his first year at Marquette and I obviously have seen what he did at Texas and VCU. He basically just said that he really liked me as a player and the passion I play with on the court. He believes that I can play in the pros and he just wants to continue my development."

Xavier: "They really are pushing for me. They said that I am a guy that fits the mold they need to become a Final Four team. That's what he was telling me and the past success of Xavier and just being a part of that and of course continuing my development as a pro."

What is Gurley looking for in his new home?

"I don't know, every school is so different," he said. "I want an opportunity to play the way I want to. I want to go out there and hoop. I want to win and development to become a pro. Then of course there are other stuff."

"I want the college to have good dining," he added and laughed.

When it comes to a timeframe on a decision, Gurley is planning to take his time.

"The earliest decision will be late April and then latest decision will be late May," he said.

Gurley averaged 15.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists this season.
