Not sure I agree
4 hours to watch a college game is too long. I've always said baseball is the one sport I can watch at any level, from t-ball to the major leagues. When I moved back to Blacksburg, I was excited to get to some games. I don't think I have an extra-ordinarily short attention span, but the games are way slow, especially when the bullpen gets called in. I don't think you have to fundamentally change the game to speed it up. Biggest thing - change pitchers =5 warm up pitches and go (they have plenty of time to warm up in the pen). Batter should be ready to get going - don't head back to the bench. Maybe a 3 batter minimum batters faced or something.
2 years ago I took my son to a game and promised we could get some player autographs at the end. The game started a 3 on a Sunday, and by 8 I needed to get him home so he could get ready for bed and school the next day. There were still 2 innings left. Screaming kid - Opportunity to make a connection and solidify a kid's fandom in baseball lost.
I have the games on TV most of the time, but probably not going to go to more than 1-2 games a season. It's more of a commitment that football at this point.
