When it comes to women's hoops, people just have to accept, there is a tier
of competition that we aren't likely to ever reach. You saw that tier tonight. UConn, Stanford, Baylor, once upon a time Tennessee, and an occasional interloper for a period of time, like ND, South Carolina has jumped in there some, but there are, on any given year, 4 or 5 teams that are head and shoulders above everyone else, and 3 of those rarely change.
It used to be just UConn and UT, so it has expanded some, but not much, but don't hold your breath on expecting Virginia Tech to be playing for more than a Sweet 16 spot.
This sport just has very different dynamics. The rich get richer and stay rich. Part of it is the players all stay 4 years. The players are willing to wait their turn. Hell, Baylor's #10 player on the depth chart would start at most schools.
We had a good season, no doubt, but the difference between a good season and what would be a great season is just about 1 game.
