For the record, Mekhi was a MASSIVE long shot to make the US Olympic team

He had qualified for the US team trials, which is quite an accomplishment in his young career; however, Olympic wrestling only has 6 weight classes and every class is LOADED with national champions and world medalists. Mekhi’s weight class (74kg) has Jordan Burroughs and loads of other elite wrestlers so expectations of him wrestling in Tokyo this summer should have been severely restrained.
