I am probably in minority but I think non-conference

games are critically important in the overall landscape of football or basketball. If there are too few there is very little to gauge a team or conference nationally. Without them you are operating in several different islands with less care about what else is going on. This is also why a conference champion only football playoff model is such an extremely poor decision.
