So if the board voted differently she wouldn't have left... Even though
Her husband would be working in Kansas?
I don't understand a teacher that would not come back NEXT year because they have to go full time these last 2 months. Is she thinking in Kansas they won't be going back to school next year?
She may be telling the truth, but I am a bit skeptical that this board vote has anything to do with her leaving. Something tells me it has more to do with her husband getting a job in Kansas.
I have no doubt there will be quite a bit of turnover next year. Heck, if I was close to retirement or even well off financially I would strongly consider early retirement. Not for fear of getting sick, and not due to mistrust of the school board, but mostly because of all the (in my opinion) over the top "mitigation" strategies... If we still have to do face masks and shields and clean everything between any time we use it or sit on a chair or kids can't interact and do partner work... Then it will be another miserable year for everyone. I can't tell you how many times I've apologized to my class about how we can't do such and such activities because we can't work in teams or share anything. And it kills me to tell a kid not to go over and talk to a friend because you're too close.
