See my post above, but I think this decision was made for next year.
It wasn't so much to save this year because as you stated the year is well over half way gone and standardized testing is around the corner. It was made to set the expectations that in the Fall of 2021 students will be going back in-person full time and to show they can do it.
Personally I can see a lot of reason to go back to full days though I also see some of the flaws. My main concern is you shouldn't go back full-time if you are making the learning environment worse for kids and there are some parts of the switch that I don't think helps and haven't been given enough thought. I have a feeling will see some change with some of these rules along the way. And, I wouldn't be surprised if there is some sort of teacher led sick out just because the overwhelming majority don't feel like their voices were considered.
I'm also going to have to start packing my daughter an extra mask to switch at the half-way point because, given how gross her mask is after just 3 hours, I can't imagine what it will be like after 6.5 hours. [Post edited by RUHokie at 02/24/2021 11:32AM]
