No part of batter's body can touch the ground outside the lines of the

batter's box when making contact.

From the rulebook:

11.15 Illegally Batted Ball
An illegally batted ball occurs when the batter contacts the pitch and:
11.15.1 Any part of her body is touching the ground outside the lines of the
batter’s box.
