A guy I know pretty well. He told me it would be a miracle if he gets his wife to come to Tech games this year in Lane Stadium. And she's the type who goes to every game and is a good fan. She is absolutely terrified of COVID.

Near as I can tell, those that are absolutely terrified of COVID do nothing but sit around the house and watch TV and read social media...which turns their fear meter up even higher. I've got a neighbor who hasn't been anywhere since March. She's absolutely terrified to go to Kroger, and basically never leaves the house.

Those are grown adults, and I worry about how sitting around isolated by themselves for an entire year is affecting their mental state. I can't imagine how it is for a teenager, especially those teenagers who are getting locked in the house by their parents.

I read an article recently about some numbers that California high school football coaches researched, and they showed that among high school athletes in California drop-out rates are up, suicides are up, bad grades are up, and even teenage pregnancy is up. I have no idea whether to believe the numbers they are throwing out there, but that's been the type of stuff that has concerned me about total shutdowns.
