I’ve never been a fan of any politics or quasi-politics in sports. It’s not just the lazy, largely uninformed one-sides moral proselytizing we’re seeing across the sports landscape today.

I’ve never really understood, for example, the obligatory manufactured patriotism or the feel-good pseudo-science masquerading as “carrying about the players” with many recent rules changes (targeting, essentially ending kick-offs, elbows in basketball, home plate rules, etc) either.

Just play ball - and leave the politics for op-ed pages and the halls of congress and statehouses.
