The SEC used to be that way too.

They had rampant cheating and cut throat behavior too until Mike Slive convinced the members that it was actually in their best interest to respect the conference. That's when you started seeing the "SEC! SEC! SEC!", and it became a strong conference after that thanks to Mike Slive. Before you had coaches turning in other coaches to the NCAA for recruiting and all kinds of cut throat stuff.
