The short answer is YES, it's easier to upgrade components. Certainly from having the experience of installing them in the first place. Simple things like adding more or bigger memory, or a second drive, or a better video card isn't difficult.

But details matter.

Not all components are compatible. And if the reason you're upgrading something is that it's 5 years old and simply no longer capable of doing what you need, you may very well find out that your 5 year old system architecture doesn't support the newer components.

I would recommend that you buy an over-capable MOBO. One that you know will support better components than you start with. Especially the processor. If you later decide to upgrade the processor and can't without having to get a new MOBO also, it's entirely possible that your other parts will become incompatible, and then you're starting all over.
