I look at JHam like this...
Say you are a theatre producer. And you were hired to put on a production on a certain date. And then COVID shuts down everything, and you don't get a chance to actually rehearse the play with your cast, yet on opening night you are still called upon to get on stage and produce that play in a high-quality manner.
That's probably going to be a disaster...unless you were just absolutely loaded with good actors.
That's pretty much JHam's situation...except he's not absolutely loaded with good players. We can't really judge him until he gets a chance to rehearse for awhile (in the form of spring practice and some recruiting).
