Joe - salary is an inevitable piece of a conversation about work product.

I'm sure you have (or had) this discussion with someone on a yearly basis.

The larger point, is that for the salary he commanded, myself and legions of others, do not think the results match the compensation. It is no more difficult than that.

I do think he is a good man - mean that 100%. He just can't win football games at VT, ones that he should.

Listen, figures don't lie and liars figure. (I am not calling you a liar - just to be clear).

I have him 18-18 on his last 36, and he is 1-3 in bowl games. The $4.25 million he is making may be the going rate, but do you really think the program is where it is supposed to be? And please do not tell me we need another 20-30 million in facilities to beat Liberty or Wake Forest.

Just like in my company and many others, sometimes things just do not work out the way they were planned and it is best if both parties go their separate ways.
