I really do not know where blame needs be placed. First of all, I am not really a person in the FU camp. I can see we have issues. Real issues. These issues started way back. We as fans need to see the whole issue. Not just what we perceive as quick fix. SEE FSU as also going through pain.
Much gnashing pain is going through the Hokie Nation. We are blaming FU, Corny, Hilgart, Whit, Hamilton, and any player not making plays we need them to make. Bottom line is it goes deep. The night the problem was revealed was 2011 ACC title game. Clemson spanked that ass for the second time. Hokie Nation didn't see it because they didn't desire to see it. The torch was passed so to speak. Passed to a giant.
What did VT do? Nothing. Set on their collective asses. Tough decisions were in front of them. An ill AD. An aging coach with his own health issues. Recruiting went to the tubes slowly but surely. Let's not forget the 0-0 game that we loss to Wake in OT. Let's not forget the losses to Pitt at Heinz. The almost loss to Marshall. Bad talent equal bad results. The Nation lived on beating pee poor Uva and yes that great bowl streak. Lol, a bowl streak kept alive by 6-6 seasons.
Move ahead. Fuente era begins . He was force fed Bud. Whom was great in his day but could not move dial recruiting. Fuente also cut money with Wiles and Gray. PR nightmares from the start. Fuente never came across as someone that fits this once proud fan base. Whit probably made a tactical error he like to have back. The word FIT! That doesn't mean the guy has to be from Hokie Nation. He has to sell the Hokie Nation. Fuente simply has not accomplished that. I am not sold. Are you?
Fuente is done in Blacksburg. Him not learning from Jerry Kill and moving forward is the end game. Think about this for second. Jerry Kill has been best coach in Blacksburg for last ten years. He did more in 4 months than FU has in 5 years. He did more in than any previous staff did in last four years. Why? Because he saw issues and had solutions. Others were effected by their own egos. Hooker a much better player when Kill here. Corny is waste of play caller. We have some O talent this year. I can go on .
So what is next? Fans will continue pointing fingers. Oh, we fans need to help also. Think about it. Some will . Some will not. They still will bitch. All have the next coach whom will put us at elite status. LOL, get over that. We need to be elite in Coastal. IF we get there, we can then try to move forward more. All that being said the next coach will have to rid of the apathy that has set in for 10 years. Beamers aging years to yes the FU failed run. The new coach will have to have a vision. It will not happen overnight. It can creep slowly in place. Patience will be required. Something I am not sure we have these days. He will have to recruit.
There is the final word. RECRUITING. Throw that in with discipline and we can rise again. You cannot lead a sick cow(bad talent) to water(talent). Sooner or later it will falter. Get players with talent and ones that can be made into players. They must buy into the plan. THE MAN.


PS.......... advice is to quit looking for your next coach. None of us knows the answer. We can only hope Whit has learned and has a better plan. We can only hope VT stays out the way and allows the next guy to coach. Again, I am not a FU fan. Ready for him to go. This is not all his fault. It goes deep.
