Fuente had a really challenging task -- replacing a HoF coach and the beloved son of VT. He was trying to thread the needle of showing respect for the past while building the program in his image. It is easy to look back now and say he should've cleaned house -- but it would be hard to replace Bud Foster with a better DC -- and it would've been a PR nightmare, I think.

In hindsight, he should've pushed for more recruiting staff when he was hired and hired more coaches who are strong recruiters. That's what's missing. But again, easy to say now. :)
