UVA has always had somewhat of a pedigree, Buzz built VT then stripped it

Buzz left less than nothing as far as players go for MY and then took all 5 recruits with him. MY walked in here with 3 guys on the roster (Horne, Wilkins, Kabongo) as Nolley and Bede were in the portal.

The fact that not only was Young able to get those guys back, but also pull in a recruiting class of 4 immediate contributors followed up by a fantastic class + a bunch of transfers is amazing.
