Is it really a chicken or the egg aspect though?
Prior to the ACC expanding to 12 members, the conference was known as "FSU and the 8 Dwarfs" and there was a reason for it. The ACC had a similar experience when VT "dominated" the conference and you could argue history is repeating itself during the Clemson Domination Era. The reason I mention this is because if you look at the history of the power conferences, then you will find plenty of examples where each conference had 2-3 (sometimes even 4 or more) relevant teams on the national stage. If those conferences can do it, then why not the ACC?
