Hasn't the football staff been growing the past couple years?

I get that things cost money, I really do. But you can't just hand an average coach more money and expect him to win more. Texas has all the money in the world and look what they've done with it since Mack Brown.

My point: If solely just raising more money were the case, teams like Arkansas, Nebraska, Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan St would all be in much better shape than VT. Instead, we're all lumped into the same category. Why? Because the program isn't run by great coaches.

Edit: Even the 'hoos operate with more money than VT. I would not say over the last decade they've been a better program, despite raising more money than VT. $$ helps a lot, but it's not the only cure.

It's like saying during the Seth Greenberg years that we shouldn't expect more than fringe bubble teams unless we throw more money at the program. Instead (after 1 disastrous hiring), a very good hire was made and all of a sudden VT is a NCAAT worthy team. They stepped up because of the coach, not because they were handed a crap ton more money.
