There’s a lot of parity college football once you get passed the
top 7-8 teams. It is what it is. These fans who expect results like we had in 1999 are just straight up delusional. We are part of the massive pool of teams that ranges from good to bad. The “great team” status is reserved for a handful of schools who have tremendous resources and excellent coaches (Georgia, Bama, Clemson, Ohio State). The only programs who have a chance to crash that party are those who also have tremendous resources but need to get the right leader in place (e.g., LSU, Auburn, Texas A&M, Michigan, Penn State, Texas). Those are programs that — if they get it figured out — can crash the party.
We’re hanging out with the Iowa’s, NC States, West Virginia’s of the world. We’re at the regular party, not the VIP event.
It is what it is. The sooner stop being delusional, the better. If you want to compete, we’ll have to do what UNC is doing and make MASSIVE financial investments. So get out your checkbook.
