Oddly a freebie year might be good for the sport.

I would like to hear others' thoughts on this, but if wrestlers are given a freebie that would essentially stack up a serious amount of talent next year and probably the year after that before things normalize. Two things could happen: 1) A LOT of competition; and 2) Maybe a lot of transfer portal action creating parity among the lesser programs. It could work to make more teams competitive and actually create more interesting duals and weight classes. The bigger programs might have a hard time stacking up their weight classes and asking really talented guys to sit out a year or two - sort of forcing the landscape to spread the wealth sort of speak.

I might add the NCAA could respond by expanding the NCAAT field to 48 for a year or two.
