Softball Recruiting Rankings are a Bit Suspect
There is a real ranking bias towards the traditional softball powers.
For example, Cameron Fagan was considered one of the top recruits in the country when she committed to Missouri. But then she switched her commitment to Virginia Tech and her ranking dropped. No logic - she was/is the exact same player, but her ranking went down.
Softball is one sport that you really, really have to be good at evaluating talent. It has gotten even more complicated with all the dead periods due to Covid.
However, I am very comfortable in saying that Coach D'Amour is VERY happy with our current commits. And that includes the pitchers that we currently have and those that we have commitments from. Our current pitchers have looked good in fall ball, including the freshmen, and in 2021, we have Emma Lemley and in 2022, we have a commitment from Lyndsey Grein.
Hokie softball does indeed have a bright future.
In terms of softball recruiting databases, I have found Extra Inning Softball probably has the most extensive coverage. Some of the other posters may have sites that they can share.
