you represent yourself, but you can call witnesses. Son is under our insurance and does have the ability to speak with a lawyer as part of my benefits package. He did not form an LLC. Ultimately, I don't want my son to have to pay another cent. I'd like to believe in court, we can win this case. It is probably best not to countersue. But there is a part of me that wants the person suing my son to get a legal notice a month before the case. Bam, you're being sued back. what are you going to do now.

It also helps that my son is a junior. Next summer he goes to Army Field Training, year after that, he graduates and goes into the Army. So he doesn't have to be in the lawn business any more, barring no unexpected problems, which this proves is never the case.

As part of this though, I've done a little research on Virginia law, and property damage claims can get quite complicated.
