Whether they play 5 games or 8 games, the team plays a lot of ACC games each year. Making it official so that the team can have a chance to compete for the ACC Championship Game is a new thing, but it's not like ACC games are a new thing.

Like Brian Kelly said, playing USC, Stanford, Navy, and Big Ten teams is important too. I'm not sure what B1G teams he's talking about. But that could still be worked out with 8 conference games particularly if Navy would be #16 for the ACC.
