I wrote an email to the state re: huge jump in COVID cases in my county.

Sent on Friday 9/11. Body of my email:

"I follow the case numbers for several counties where my family lives, including Hanover where I live. I noticed a HUGE jump in the number of cases in Hanover, from 901 to 1023 on 9/10/20.

What is the source of this increase (in general terms)? Is this a clerical data fix, finding that a facility, i.e. prison or nursing home, has 120 cases, or other?"

Received a nice reply a little while ago. It contained a link (below) to a press release about infections at the Co. jail. Sounds like the county/state were responsible and transparent. Amazed at the spread of the disease although I probably shouldn't be.

I've been following the VA cases and deaths daily for a good while on the state website. Couple comments:
Cases have been holding/dropping at less than 1000/day (7 day moving avg.) but a big drop (839 to 744) just occurred 9/6 to 9/7. Seems like an oddly large change for an "average".
Hospitalizations and deaths have trended down to lowest point since ~ end of March.

Now the kicker. MIL is 93 and on a dementia floor at a local (far west end Henrico) assisted living facility and we found out yesterday she has tested positive. She is 1 of 14 that have tested positive, 11 have recovered.

Prayers requested.

Gotta go. Will check back in a while.
