Anything that requires borrowing money is too much for me at this point

Took me about 23 years to get debt-free. Not going back.

But for some specific answers:

Electronics - willing to spend hundreds, but not thousands.
Vehicles - buy new, pay cash, keep it forever. My cap is probably $25-35K right now.
Food - eat out only rarely, stock your own kitchen with good stuff.
Clothing - I'm willing to pay more to get more, but not to get just a brand. $20 Wrangler jeans are fine. But perfectly willing to spend $200+ on really good shoes (but that is to get quality, not a brand).
Housing - I don't think I ever spent more than 20-25% of my gross on a mortgage. If you do the $35-40% that banks are willing to lend to you, I think you will always be house-rich but cash-poor.
Sporting Events - I'm spending less and less as I get older on live entertainment of any kind. Probably haven't been to a concert in ten years. Go to a movie at the theater maybe 1-2x a year. I do still enjoy going to an away game every year (except 2020, apparantly), but that is more about getting together with old friends for a long weekend of fun around a sporting event than the sporting event itself.

We eat out way more than we should. Otherwise very frugal. -- RoswellGAHokie 09/10/2020 11:36AM
