May have marked up the labor if he's not making any money on the part.


Part of the cost of buying the part from him is the warranty. If the pump stops working in a month, plumber will likely handle the complete replacement under warranty (will charge back to supplier if pump defective). With you supplying the part, you'll be on the hook for plumber's additional labor to troubleshoot and replace if the pump is defective. Pump manufacturer will replace the part, but don't know if they'd pick up the labor too.
