A strategic question (not for tactical passionate fans)

The big question is a university established for education or be an athletic factory and entertainment??? When is big too big????
and when does athletics take away borrowing capacity and capital needed for other university goals.

At the highest level with the virus, situation hard questions has to be asked.....

I do think the athletic factory schools/blue bloods will go their own way. Rest of us, maintain our nice regional rivalries and a balanced sustainable format. could be ACC without clemson, FSU but add WVU...

Actually ND is struggling with this discussion as well.
