social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands are not essential liberties that we have to fear monger over. They are very simple, common sense, safety measures to keep our fellow americans safe. Many understand this, but unfortunately, too many americans still do not.

Let's break what you wrote down:
"our national psyche is at serious risk" - seriously, our country has been divided for decades, and the divide just continues to get worse, all of which happened WAY before this virus, so the virus has got nothing on our national psyche, which has already been severely damaged.

"Will we live in fear of everything from this point forward? If so, our nation will be easily overcome by adversaries both foreign and domestic" - THIS is total fear mongering at its best. The short answer is...No. But do you really think if every american suddenly were to wear a mask, then China will take us over tomorrow? Is that what you think? Seriously. And what "domestic" adversaries are you even referring to? Sounds like conspiracy mongering.

"Overcoming adverse circumstances, meeting them head-on and defeating them, is the American way!" Really. I don't think so. Maybe in WWII, cold war, or space race, when our country was more united. But today we are not united; we are divided. And do you honestly think america has met this crisis head-on? Obvious answer is NO! Not even close. In fact, our response has been a joke, to ourselves and the entire world. Do you think we are defeating it? Uh....not yet, not even close. Hopefully, we can at some point, but because we totally failed to meet it head-on as a united country, things are not looking good.

And then you use a Franklin quote which is just off the mark. I disagree totally that a government that asks its citizens to social distance, wear masks, and wash their hands is comparable to the liberties Franklin and the colonials fought for.
