Spanish flu only ran for 18 months, so I'd hope modern medicine could
get this one under control within a 12-18 month timeline.
Serious response? I'd say progress will continue to be made on treatment(I think good progress has already been made), mitigation(vaccine, better hygiene and adherence to wearing masks when indoors, etc), ramping up supplies of PPP, etc. We have work to do still on educating the public, but I think we can do much better there and I look forward to more consistent messaging from Government.
I think intelligence is in shorter supply than bravery in our country when it comes to COVID. When you look at the under-counting of COVID deaths, we are already past 200k deaths in this country. That is off-the-charts worse than other countries on a per-capita basis, I believe we can do much, much better. Bravery shouldn't come into play as a strategy to combat a pandemic in 2020, we should have a better strategy than that and I think we'll eventually have one.
