This is the part that truly frustrates me. There is virtually zero


discussion about the absolute, total, and complete cost of all this. Yes, Covid is bad. Much worse than the flu. But we are combating it with unemployment unprecedented since the Depression, trillions of new borrowing (combined with the lost tax revenue), the complete destruction of some tourism industries, countless small businesses atrophying to death, increased depression/suicide/domestic violence, and utterly inadequate education for our children. And that is just to "flatten the curve" not to actually eradicate the disease.

I hadn't even thought of the delays to other necessary medical care. So add that to the pile as well.

We elect leaders to make the tough decisions, not to blow in the wind of public opinion like a wind sock. Today, the tough decision is how to manage a pandemic such that the cure isn't worse than the disease. The countermeasures aren't just costing us money, they are also costing us health and lives.
