Think I recall consumer reports saying American Standard had the highest

reliability, probably based on reader surveys as opposed to their actual tests. Also think I've read somewhere else (could've been here on TSL) that single stage compressors have longer life than multi-stage compressors, which kinda makes sense (simpler being more reliable than complicated). But it's those multi-stage units that give you the high efficiencies. So if/when mine goes, kinda thinking I'd go with an American Standard, with the highest efficiency I can get with a single stage unit.
