Just going by personal experience...
My G23 (basically a G19 in .40) is a little "snappy." I never want to shoot more than 100 rounds out of it during any range session because my wrist starts feeling it. But my (9mm) Walther PPQ on the other hand, is about the same size and weight as the G19, and I could easily put 1,000+ rounds through it without any issues. That's the difference I personally feel between 9mm and .40
Now I'm just shooting target rounds out of both. I'm sure you could buy high powered 9mm (+P) rounds that are just as "snappy" as target .40 rounds.
