Interesting. Wonder when acceptable loss factors become normalized.

I had a conversation this week with a guy who’d just learned about H3N2 Hong Kong flu pandemics in the 1968-1970 years. Wanted to know if I was aware it was going on then. I lived in the burg then, and do not recall the H3N2 flu as being very newsworthy. Lots of Nam and Apollo news + protests gathering momentum. I also pointed out that we had no internet, no social media and no 24/7 cable news. As many as 100,000 Americans were reported to have died from that particular virus in an overall population of 203 million but no one masked, no businesses were shuttered and social distancing was not conceived or enforced. The H3N2 backed off and life went on. Again, I wonder how we’ll get to acceptance loss.
